Discovered over 820 years ago, our hot spring is celebrated as a “blessing for fertility” and a “beauty-enhancing onsen”, cherished for its gentle, skin-nourishing waters.
The source of Yunishigawa Onsen, said to have been discovered over 820 years ago, lies beneath Honke Bankyu’s open-air bath, “Fuji Kura no Yu.”
For generations, our family has carefully preserved this spring, welcoming travelers seeking healing and tranquility.
Renowned as a hot spring of fertility and beauty, its pure, gentle waters invite you to relax and rejuvenate both body and spirit.
Experience the origin of Yunishigawa Onsen,
a natural hot spring that has continuously flowed from its source for more than 800 years.
Our open-air bath offers breathtaking views so close to the river,
you could almost reach out and touch the crystal-clear stream.
Inside the cypress-scented bathhouse,
the bathtub made of granite and Towada stone is filled with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source,
offering deep relaxation for both body and mind.
This renowned natural hot spring, flowing directly from the source, has long been known as “Kodakara no Yu”—the Hot Spring of Fertility.
Inside the cypress-scented bathhouse, the bathtub is made of granite and Towada stone, creating a serene and healing atmosphere.
※The hot spring of Yunishigawa, which has continuously flowed on our grounds since ancient times, has been known for generations as a “Fertility Hot Spring.”
Within our premises stands the Kodakara Jizō, a guardian deity said to bless visitors with children.
One of the calligraphy artists whose works adorn our inn, Ms. Keigetsu Inoue, also shares a deep connection with this spring.
Her mother, who had long wished for a child during the early Shōwa era, visited Honke Bankyu upon hearing of its fertility-blessing waters. After spending two weeks there for hot spring therapy, she soon conceived—and that child was Ms. Inoue herself.
Half a century later, our proprietress happened to attend Ms. Inoue’s solo exhibition in Nikkō and was deeply moved by her powerful works.
When she invited Ms. Inoue to create art for the inn, she learned that Ms. Inoue owed her existence to this very spring—
a story that beautifully reaffirms the bonds between people and the blessings passed down through generations.
Many of our guests have also shared their joy after being blessed with children.
(Please note that these are personal experiences, and no medical effects are guaranteed.)
We sincerely hope that this gift of nature brings healing, happiness, and health to all who visit.
