Yunishigawa Hot Spring, Founded in 1666
湯西川温泉 本家伴久
A historic inn established in 1666, with the legendary Heike‑tradition kazura (vine) bridge
Since its founding in the early Edo period, this inn has preserved the charm of Japan’s rural roots.
All guest rooms face the clear stream, wrapped in the warmth of fine woods, offering tranquil comfort.
From a source flowing for eight hundred years, our hot spring is integrated with Yunishigawa itself— pure, free‑flowing, natural onsen.
Cross the Heike‑tradition “kazura bridge” through time to reach your dining venue.
Surrounded by abundant nature and the sound of the river, you return to your spiritual hometown.
Our creative kaiseki cuisine features fresh blessings of mountain and river.
At the Heike hidden house (“Heike Kakureyakata”) enjoy charcoal‑grilled irori cuisine.
For twenty‑six consecutive years, this long‑established inn has been certified as a five‑star ryokan.
The mountains weave a scroll of the four seasons
And the ice festival at Bankyu (or within the ryokan) sparkles in a poetic glow.

An open-air hot spring flowing directly from the source,
nestled beside a clear mountain stream.
A time-traveling journey —
across a vine bridge to traditional hearthside kaiseki cuisine.
An inn that bridges people to people,
and people to nature.

Nestled in the serene valley of Yunishigawa, Nikko, Honke Bankyu is a historic ryokan established in 1666, carrying on the proud legacy of the Heike clan. It is the birthplace of Yunishigawa Onsen, where tradition and tranquility flow together like the clear mountain stream beside it.

Immerse yourself in nature with our open-air hot springs and private baths, where the sound of the river and the touch of the breeze bring deep relaxation to body and soul.

Cross the symbolic Kazura Bridge to reach the dining hall, and step back in time to the charm of old Japan.
At our Heike Kakurekan dining room, gather around the irori hearth and savor charcoal-grilled dishes and exquisite kaiseki cuisine — a harmony of tradition and creativity.
Paired with local sake, every meal becomes a warm and memorable celebration.

All of our guest rooms are riverside sanctuaries built with fine natural wood, offering both comfort and timeless beauty.
Let yourself drift into a nostalgic world beyond time — a journey to your spiritual hometown.
